We finally have a trailer for Anomalisa! This is Charlie Kaufman’s first project since the heartbreaking Synecdoche, New York, and it promises to be just as beautiful and haunting. The film began as a collaboration in sound design with the Coen Brothers’ usual composer, Carter Burwell, and it features gorgeous 3D-printed puppets and animation. It’s already one of the most critically anticipated films of the year, meeting with rapturous praise after screenings at the Toronto Film Festival and Telluride Film Festival, and won the Grand Jury Prize at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival. Anomalisa is being executive produced by Dino Stamatopoulos (Moral Orel) and Dan Harmon (Community, Rick & Morty). The film was funded through Kickstarter, in order to “produce this unique and beautiful film outside of the typical Hollywood studio system where we believe that you, the audience, would never be allowed to enjoy this brilliant work the way it was originally conceived.” As a result of a flood of backing, Kaufman was able to expand the film from the proposed 40-minute length to 80 minutes.
